许多名胜古迹景点都有相关历史人物的英文介绍,但由于翻译问题颇多,未能完全起到传播中国文化的目的。以海南名胜古迹海瑞墓中的海瑞介绍为例,运用相关翻译理论,探析名胜古迹中历史人物英译中存在的语用问题,提出改译的策略。
Abstract：Many places of interest in China offer English introductions of historical figures.However,because of mistranslations,to a large extent,they fail to publicize the Chinese culture.This paper analyzes the mistranslations and pragmatic mistakes in the Chinese-English translation of introductions of historical figures by studying the examples from Hainan.On the basis of the case studies,the paper discusses how translation strategies and techniques such as free translation,compensation,amplification and adaptation method are applied to translating introductions of historical figures.
