从句法、语义、语用3个层面对英语歧义的产生及消除进行说明、分析,进而得出三者之间的关系:句法、语义、语用三者互相制约,相互影响。句法多义及多层次性是歧义产生的基础,语义上的多义为歧义的产生提供了条件,而语用则为歧义提供成立的依据及多种解释的可能性和合理性。

This paper analyzes the sources and removal of ambiguity from the perspectives of syntax,semantics and pragmatics and draws the conclusion that these three branches of linguistics are restricting and influencing each other.Different syntactic structures form the basis of ambiguity,polysemous phenomenon in semantics and pragmatics provides the condition for and the possibility of the existence of ambiguity.
