阿尔贝特·施韦泽通过对现代西方文化由盛转衰的轨迹进行梳理,深入细致地分析了哲学、自由、制度、人性、伦理等要素对文化发展的责任,鲜明提出了"文化的伦理本质"这一命题,并给出了重建现代西方文化的基本方案。基于唯物史观的批判性分析可以看出这些思想观点对于处在现代化浪潮中的当代中国促进文化大发展大繁荣,增强文化自信具有一定的参照价值,但是其并未逃脱以精神塑造精神的唯心主义怪圈。批判地吸收西方哲学社会科学中的有益成份,克服对西方文化发展路径的盲目崇拜,积极构建中国特色哲学社会科学,坚持中国特色社会主义文化发展道路是施韦泽文化思想对于增强我国文化自信的重要启示。

Through combing through the evolving course of the modern Western culture from flourish to decadence,Albert Schweitzer thoroughly analyzes the responsibilities of such elements as philosophy,freedom,system,human nature and ethics and so on for culture development,putting forward the proposition of "the ethical essence of culture"while providing a basic scheme for reconstructing the modern Western culture. A critical analysis on the basis of historical materialism discloses that these ideas can provide certain values of reference for contemporary China in the course of modernization to promote the development and prosperity of Chinese culture and enhance the cultural self-confidence,and they fail to escape from the idealistic confinement that shapes spirit with itself. Inspired by Albert Schweitzer's cultural thought,to enhance the cultural self-confidence of China not only involves critically absorbing the beneficial elements in Western philosophy and social science to overcome the blind worship of the development path of Western culture,but also requires to actively construct the philosophy and social science with Chinese characteristics and adhere to the road of socialist cultural development with Chinese characteristics.
